Nurse Practitioner
Job Description:
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with specialized education and clinical training that allows them to provide a wide range of healthcare services. NPs hold a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing and are licensed to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patient care, often with a focus in areas like family medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, or acute care. They have the authority to prescribe medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide patient education, making them an integral part of the healthcare system.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and make diagnoses.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for acute and chronic conditions, prescribing medications and therapies.
- Work in partnership with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Perform minor procedures and interventions as needed, depending on specialty and training.
- Document patient care, treatment plans, and outcomes in medical records.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Completion of a Master's Degree or Doctoral Program in Nursing (MSN or DNP) from an accredited institution.
- Possession of a Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland and completion of additional requirements to become a Nurse Practitioner (NP) through the Maryland Board of Nursing.
- Completion of clinical hours as part of the advanced nursing program to gain practical, hands-on experience in patient care.
- Nurse Practitioners in Maryland are required to complete continuing education and renew their certification and licensure periodically.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check
