Certified Medical Assistant
Job Description:
A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a skilled healthcare professional who supports both clinical and administrative functions in medical settings. CMAs play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of healthcare facilities while contributing to high-quality patient care. Their specialized training and certification enable them to assist healthcare providers and patients, creating a seamless experience. CMAs are integral to the healthcare team, bridging the gap between administrative tasks and patient services.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Record patients' medical histories and update their charts.
- Measure and document patients' vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures.
- Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and handle diagnostic equipment.
- Educate patients about treatment plans, medications, and preventive care.
- Manage administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records.
- Handle billing, insurance claims, and correspondence with patients and insurance companies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required before entering a medical assisting program.
- Must pass the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or other recognized certifying bodies.
- Must have a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check
