Registered Nurse
Job Description:
A Registered Nurse (RN) is a healthcare professional who is responsible for assessing patient health, providing nursing care, administering treatments, and collaborating with other healthcare team members to provide optimal patient outcomes. RNs work in a wide range of healthcare settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, and home health care. They play a key role in patient care by advocating for patients, monitoring vital signs, performing diagnostic tests, and providing health education. RNs can specialize in areas such as pediatrics, emergency care, oncology, and more.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patient health, including monitoring vital signs and symptoms.
- Provide medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to create and update patient care plans based on assessments and diagnoses.
- Educate patients and families on health conditions, medications, and lifestyle changes for managing chronic diseases and preventing illness.
- Track patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Assist with or perform diagnostic procedures and tests to identify health conditions and track progress.
- Offer emotional support and counseling to patients and their families throughout their healthcare journey.
- Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure effective treatment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Completion of an accredited nursing program. This can be either a Diploma in Nursing, Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Successful completion of the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check
